Pocket watches and sore arms...
Recent shoot involving one of my pocket-watches (see I didn't waste any money on an expensive on since apparently I have cheap tastes... I'll take it as a compliment at least), involving perhaps one of the cheapest setups I've worked with for a while. The image is shot using a small strand of fishing wire to suspend it in the air (edited out and can I just mention how annoying it is trying to work with an object that keeps randomly swaying with the airconditioning...) with a couple of speedlites arranged at either side (one with some purloined red gel material taped over the bulb).
The backdrop is literally a leaf I found on the ground on the way to work, dried out in the sun and still with a large section of the stem... which proved useful to hold it into frame (I tried some obscene contraption of fishing wire and staples before giving up and just holding the sodding thing).
The final image has been retouched (hence the logo at the top) but thanks to the fishing wire I didn;t need to do any compositing for the final edit... just the spot healing brush.
