Hot Metal Castings
With some assistance from the sculpting department of Edna Manley College's School of Visual Arts, each semester any student pieces which are made from metal need to be cast. To do this a quantity of different metals are melted together in a crucible which is ten poured by staff from the department into pre-prepared molds made by the students. While the pieces themselves are beautiful, the process of making them is an immense feat, especially given the extreme heat already present here in Jamaica.
