Theatre Production - I Lawah

I Lawah

This week saw the opening of the EMC production of I LAWAH, directed by Camille Quamina from the School of Drama. The production was a wonderful one to shoot, strong contrasting lighting and several sequences consisting of the darker red lighting style seen above.

When shooting any theatre production it is best to have some freedom of movement around the stage to ensure the angle of approach and timings for the shot are correct. This was done by having a dedicated photography rehearsal after the opening night where the audience has been restricted to crew and production staff. This allowed for a more relaxed atmosphere and removed the chances of spoiling to production for a live audience.

The images below are from the production poster, commissioned by the director during the rehearsal process and sent on to a graphics artist for the specific show information. These two images are shot on the stage itself prior to the set going up and using only the simplest of props and costume.
